Some BG Designs.
My music video “Santus Interruptus” premiered as part of The New Standards’ holiday E-Card “Standardize Yourself!” Enjoy, and pass it around… because, well, that’s the point.
Animated and Directed by Bret Farley
Concept by Chan Poling and John Munson
Music by The New Standards
Sound Design by Ken Chastain

Here’s some concept art and character designs for the aforementioned New Standards project. The film is 25 scenes long, so I thought I could afford some early design work to “leak.” Looking forward to unleashing this on mankind very soon.
Recently I had the opportunity to help animate the latest HealthPartners spot, in between working on various other projects. Stay tuned… there’s a collaboration with the jazz trio The New Standards on the way very soon!

I created the motion of the characters in this spot using hinged characters and the puppet pin tool in After Effects. Fun campaign to work on! And who doesn’t like horsies?

A few blog illustrations I created for 3D Character Factory, a local 3D animation studio. I’ve included the rough concept sketches to show a progression from rough to final.
Here’s a new spot I animated for Reelworks Animation. The challenge was transforming the characters and designs (created by Illustrator Jim Frazier) into 3D elements. I handled the 3D character and element animation, while Bruce McFarlane did the tractor, bull, and bear.
After a long 2010, my wife and I have moved back to the Twin Cities, where I’ve been freelancing almost full-time on some pretty awesome gigs. It’s been great to be back.
Upon reading the following interview with Glen Keane, I find myself woefully lacking in my sketching habits:http://tinyurl.com/26sphps
So for 2011, in addition to animating more, I’ll be sketching WAY more, and hopefully posting some of my work along the way. Looking forward to the next year!
